Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism officially published the fourth batch of 200 national key villages for rural tourism and the second batch of 98 national key towns (townships) for rural tourism. A total of seven villages and three towns (townships) in Hunan Province were selected. Among them, Dehang Village in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture has been rated as one of the national key villages for rural tourism, which is the only selected village in Xiangxi.
Dehang Village is 23 kilometers away from the urban area of Jishou City. It is a village inhabited by the Miao people. There are many mountains in the village, where surrounding natural scenery is picturesque and the ethnic customs are rich. It is a core part of the national 5A scenic area “Aizhai-Shibadong-Dehang Grand Canyon”.
In recent years, relying on the beautiful natural environment, unique village buildings and colorful folk culture, Dehang Village has built an ecological, livable, green and beautiful pastoral village with the Miao characteristics, which integrates food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping and entertainment. Meanwhile, Dehang Village has been constantly improving the quality of tourism services, promoting the protection of traditional villages and coordinated development of cultural tourism and economic society, which has enabled villagers to increase income through tourism and further boosted the local economic growth.
